What began as rural farmland was transformed into the U.S. Army’s flagship medical center serving soldiers wounded in all of America's wars for over 100 years. Before it closed, history marched through the halls of Walter Reed Army Medical Center where presidents, and privates mingled in their hospital gowns, and whole new fields of medical study were discovered.
